Useful swaps

  • Make nori hand rolls: Omit the tortilla from assembly, cut the nori into four broad sheets, and divide all edamame mash, rice, avocado, cucumber, and sesame among them immediately before eating. Becomes gluten-free if the miso is certified gluten-free; serving size becomes four small hand rolls. Contains soy and sesame; verify miso for gluten. Calories and carbohydrate decrease because the tortilla is not served.
  • Pack as a bento bowl: Mash 100 g of the 150 g chilled edamame with 12 g white miso, 10 g lime juice, and 10 g water until spreadable, then fold in the remaining 50 g edamame. Spread the 50 g tortilla flat, cut it into narrow strips, and keep the strips dry. Arrange 100 g chilled brown rice, all edamame mash, 40 g avocado, 50 g cucumber matchsticks, and 5 g sesame in a bowl. Pack the 3 g nori and tortilla strips separately and add both only when serving. Dietary pattern is unchanged. Major allergens are unchanged; check packaged ingredients for cross-contact. Nutrition is unchanged because the ingredient quantities stay the same.
