Useful swaps

  • Use a tahini za'atar dip: Replace the 100 g yogurt with 30 g tahini plus 30 g water. Whisk with 3 g za'atar, 4.5 g olive oil, 5 g lemon juice, and 0.3 g black pepper. Boil 2 eggs for 9 minutes until their centers reach 160°F, cool for 2 minutes, peel, and halve. Pack with 75 g cucumber, 60 g carrot, 75 g tomatoes, and the covered tahini dip. Remains vegetarian and is dairy-free when every packaged ingredient is labeled dairy-free. Replaces milk with sesame and still contains egg. The tahini dip is higher in fat and calories and lower in protein than the yogurt dip.
  • Use red pepper instead of cucumber: Replace the 75 g cucumber with 75 g red pepper strips. Boil 2 eggs for 9 minutes until their centers reach 160°F, cool for 2 minutes, peel, and halve. Whisk 100 g yogurt with 3 g za'atar, 4.5 g olive oil, 5 g lemon juice, and 0.3 g black pepper. Pack the eggs with all 75 g red pepper, 60 g carrots, 75 g tomatoes, and the covered dip. Remains vegetarian. Still contains egg and milk; red pepper introduces no regulated major allergen on its own. Calories and protein remain close, while red pepper adds a sweeter crunch.
